CONCEPT & CONTACT

I decided there should be more music in my life, so I called together the best singers I know from some of the local brilliant counterculture art collectives and asked them to sing. I about fell out of my chair when they agreed to do it.

So we formed the Bicycle Choir. We are a collective of singers that sing for the hell of it. We sing because people should sing and dance more. We sing a cappella or with rhythm, at the top of our lungs; we sing so loud that last summer at Sari’s the people that live across the street put lawn chairs out on their balcony and listened to us, foot-stomping, hand-clapping, roof-raising barnstormers. We sing the children in our lives to sleep. Though largely a cappella, we use palmas and body percussion to compliment the style of singing, and occasionally add drumming and instrumentation.

The Choir is an ever-shifting, growing collective and we welcome those that want to sing with us. The six singers that comprise our core and longest participating members get together regularly and work on increasingly dynamic music. In the years that we have been together we continually develop our voices individually and our sound as a group. Some combinations of the six of us are available to sing for events. Please feel free to write with questions and for booking information. -Jennaindex.html
